SCOOTERS & DOCKLESS BIKES

Scooters and dockless bikes are regulated via permits by the City of Atlanta. Enforcement is handled by APD. Currently, companies must reapply on an annual basis and must meet various standards. Companies are responsible for cleaning up scooters when users leave them in dangerous locations, such as the middle of the sidewalk.

How to Report a Bike or Scooter that Needs Attention

Use ATL311 to report a scooter that has been parked in a dangerous or otherwise unacceptable area. We recommend using ATL311’s social media channels to report problems – be clear about the location and include a photo, along with which company the device belongs to. The company has two hours to fix the situation. This data is tracked by the City of Atlanta and affects the company’s ability to operate scooters in the future. Don’t just complain about it on NextDoor – report it on ATL311.

City-permitted dockless bikes/scooters operators as of July 1, 2021 are:

  • Bird
  • Lime
  • Spin
