Trash & RecyclingCity of Atlanta garbage and recycle bin items are scheduled to be picked up once a week every Monday. Yard trimmings have been disrupted by COVID-19, so they are picked up every other week. See the schedule on the City's website to check for the latest pickup days. They've also contracted with private companies Russell Landscaping and Ed Castro Landscaping to help with yard trimming pickups as the department remains short-staffed. You can also take your yard trimmings to one of three drop-off locations:
Residents are notified by postcards and on the City’s website, when there are changes to trash-pick-up schedules and rules. Herbie Curbies (the green trash can from the City) should be placed on the curb after 7 p.m. the previous day and removed from the curb by 7 p.m. on collection day. Yard trimmings must be in a separate marked receptacle or in large paper bags manufactured for yard-trimming disposal. No plastic bags can be used, and no regular trash can be mixed with yard trimmings. One additional recycle bin beyond the one issued by the city will be picked up if customers have more recycle items than can fit into the bin. For questions about garbage, yard, or recycle collection or to start your collection service, call 404-330-6333, or check the City of Atlanta website.
