Piedmont Heights and nearby neighborhoods have experienced a tremendous increase in thefts from vehicles in the past year. A "clean car" is one way to discourage thieves. That does not mean just keeping things in your car out of sight. More importantly, it means do not leave anything of value anywhere in your car.
A number of thefts from vehicles in this area have included money and guns left in glove compartments or consoles. Because thieves have found those valuables in cars which did not have anything of value visible, thieves are sometimes breaking into even those cars which do not have anything visible in the hopes they'll find money or guns or jewelry in closed compartments. Best advice, leave those things locked up at home or office, not in a relatively unsecure automobile.
