The Second Annual Taste of PiHi, presented by Piedmont Heights Business Alliance and Piedmont Heights Civic Association, is a fundraising event highlighting the city’s oldest neighborhood’s best of food, beverage, and business hosted at Indie Studios on Sunday, November 10.

In support of a recent $60,000 Commercial District grant from the Atlanta BeltLine, the Taste of PiHi aims to continue raising money to explore the feasibility of a Community Improvement District (CID) for the Monroe/Piedmont/Armour/Cheshire Bridge commercial corridors.

PiHi Business Alliance president Sachiyo Nakato Takahara says, “As a third-generation business owner on Cheshire Bridge and nearby resident, we are excited about the progress of property owners and residents coming together to reinvest into the community we work and live in.”

Community Improvement Districts (CIDs) are geographically defined districts where commercial property owners have agreed to provide additional services within the district funded by a self-imposed additional property tax (and, in some cases voluntary contributions from partners). The best known local examples are Central Atlanta Progress/Atlanta Downtown Improvement District, the Midtown Alliance, and the Buckhead CID. CIDs are funded by owners (not tenants) of all properties in a CID boundary that are not residential (including apartments). Georgia has 28 CIDs, half of which have been created since 2010.

The Taste of PiHi will feature over 30 stations including many legacy businesses along Cheshire Bridge including Nakato Japanese Restaurant, Nino’s Italian Restaurant, The Colonnade, and Johnny’s Pizza. Sips from the city’s top distillery ASW and Sweetwater Brewery, a local makers market, raffles prizes, presentations, city officials, and local business engagement will make this event one you do not want to miss. Attendees will also have a chance to learn more about the CID and help envision ways to revive these vital commercial corridors.

Tickets are FREE for PiHi Alliance and Piedmont Heights Civic Association members.
